Mechanical Labs

The mechanical engineering department has fully equipped labs researched by experienced faculty members with trained technicians to help the students in performing the experiments.

Engineering Practice Lab

We have the state of the art facilities in central workshop having machine shop, Engine Lathe, Center Lathe, Carpentry shop, Fitting shop, Foundry, Fabrication shop and Welding Shop. Students have the facility to complete their projects in the workshop for vehicle manufacturing and assembling of parts.

Strength of Materials & Fluid Mechanics and Machinery Lab

Testing of materials for their strength under the action of external loads are studied in this lab. Knowledge of strength of Metals and nonmetals is essentials before its use in any structure and designing.

Fluid Mechanics lab has the equipment needed to impart practical knowledge to the students in the essential area of Mechanical Engineering. Hydraulic Impulse and Reaction type Turbines, Centrifugal and reciprocating pumps and Flow measuring equipment are some of the example of the equipment in this lab.

CAD/CAM Lab

The present day CAD/CAM development focuses on efficient and fast integration and automation of various elements of design and manufacturing along with the development of new algorithms. There are many commercial CAD/CAM packages available for direct usages that are user-friendly and very proficient. Computer Aided Design is taught using common software like AutoCAD, Creo etc. used by our students in general. Here, students love to spend hours together practicing these high end software in air-conditioned computer labs.

Manufacturing Technology Laboratory

Manufacturing Technology Laboratory is a well equipped laboratory which provides ideas on the practical knowledge of several steps of casting, pattern usage, mould creation, gating design, produce a casting and check casting defects. To Study and practice the various operations that can be performed in lathe, shaper, drilling, milling machines etc. and to equip with the practical knowledge required in the core industries.

Metrology and Measurement Laboratory

Testing is the technical procedure consisting of the determination of characteristics of a given object or process, in accordance with a specified method. In metrology (the science of measurement), a standard is an object, system, or experiment that bears a defined relationship to a unit of measurement of a physical quantity.

Mechatronics Laboratory

Mechatronics Laboratory under the Department of Mechatronics Engineering is one among the important labs that serves academics as well as research. The lab caters the need to provide multi domain knowledge and system level integration which is expected to be the key role for a Mechanical engineers.

Thermal Engineering Laboratory

The primary purpose of the laboratory ‘THERMAL ENGINEERING’ is to show students the experimental methods on thermal energies on various engines and demonstrate their operational procedures. These values can be further used to determine other fuel properties. In order that students have a fairly good understanding of the theory underlying the experiments, the entire course is designed such that classroom lectures precede lab work. Students are advised to pay close attention in class so that they can perform well in the lab.

Product Development Lab

The product development Lab helps the students to fabricate the models by hands- on-training that increases the confidence level, work together with a team, creative knowledge and providing opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge into real time practices. This practices will provide proper training to students in the areas of Literature Survey, Design, Material Selection, Cost Estimation, Purchase of components and Patent registration process. Development of model is a best practices that the students can give their ability to convert a design model into real time application product. This encourages the students to have a creative thinking that can be satisfied for Industrial needs.

EQUIPMENT DETAILS

Refrigeration & Air Conditioning

RAC (Refrigeration & Air Conditioning) is one of the most important contributions of Mechanical Engineering to the present day civilization. The lab has state of the art facilities for providing the hands-on experience to the students. Knowledge of domestic refrigerators and its various components, concepts of cooling and heating systems.

I.C. Engine Lab

The lab has up-to-date equipment for conducting experiments in the course of internal combustion Engines. Mechanical and Automobile Engineering students are exposed essential practical aspects of the engine parts of automotive vehicles.

Francis Turbine

Francis Turbine is a combination of both impulse and reaction turbine, where the blades rotate using both reaction and impulse force of water flowing through them producing electricity more efficiently. Francis turbine is used for the production of electricity in hydro power stations.

Universal Testing Machine

Torsion Testing Machine is designed for conducting Torsion and Twist on various metal wires, tubes, sheet materials, torque measurement is by pendulum dynamometer system. Torque ranges can be adjusted by Auto Torque Selector. Torque can be applied to specimen by geared motor through gear box.
