Demonstrating the essential principles within the area of strength and mechanics of materials and structural analysis to the undergraduate students through a series of experiments is that the objective of the strength of materials lab. Measuring the properties of the materials like impact strength, lastingness, compressive strength, hardness, ductility are conducted within the lab.
Study of its constituents and their properties is important for preparing desired mix so on develop required strength necessary for various sorts of Structures. The sturdiness of the structures depends upon the care with which ingredients of concrete are selected, mixed, placed, compacted and cured. The information regarding various properties of concrete in its plastic stage also as hardened Stage is important to enable the engineer for internal control during construction work.
Knowledge of the topic is important for the planning of Concrete Structures. Strength, workability, durability are important characteristics of concrete. Compressive strength of concrete describes the load caring capacity, workability is that the indicator of ease with which we work on concrete, whereas durability shows the resistance of concrete to environmental attack. All these properties of concrete are determined by performing the experiments in Construction materials & Highway Engineering Laboratory.

Soil Mechanics is an important branch of civil engineering that contributes to the understanding of ground behaviour. Laboratory testing forms an integral part of the studies required to provide engineering parameters in the design of building and bridge foundations, dams, road and airfield pavements, tunnels, embankments and slopes. Our soil mechanics laboratory is well equipped and provides students with all facilities required to deepen their understanding of the principles governing soil engineering properties and behaviour.
Equipment
Software development has effectively contributed in various Civil Engineering disciplines, as it provides engineers with the ability to perform variety of complex calculations, modelling, drafting, designing practice and several analysis processes for civil engineering infrastructure. The Computer Aided Building Drawing laboratory aims to introducing the students to draft the plan, elevation and sectional views of buildings in accordance with development and control rules satisfying orientation and functional requirements as per National Building Code. The students will be able to draft the plan, elevation and sectional views of the buildings, industrial structures, and framed buildings using computer software’s.
